When we were at BlogOnKids Ethan got gifted a Worm World Kit by Nick Baker which looks awesome! I am not an insect lover but he said he can’t wait to do it and get muddy looking for the worms. I think this is a great learning tool personally as the children get to look inside the fascinating world the worms create with this fun kit. Watch your worms mix up the different coloured layers in their chamber and feed them leaves. This product provides a great opportunity for children to learn more about worms’ importance in our ecosystem.
The children are encouraged to collect their own worms, (which delighted Ethan) and they are told how to do it safely in the instruction manual. If digging for their own worms isn’t your child’s thing then they have included an order form for worms in the box. This company looks good for ordering worms in the UK if required and they seem very knowledgeable. (No affiliation with the company just a quick google search)
Please note: Worms & Soil are not included in the kit.
The Worm World Kit Contains:
- Plastic housing
- Plastic lid
- Feet for the housing
- Cardboard shade
- Red sand
- Yellow sand
- Plain sand
- Colour instruction manual
- Order form for worms
Ethan loved watching this video when we were preparing the worm farm and it helped him make sure he was doing everything correctly and safely.
What We Thought About The Worm World Kit
Overall we love this kit and think it is great for anyone over the age of 6-7 years as it has so many learning avenues as well as teaching them about how something so small makes a big difference in our world. Ethan loved doing it but we have since released our worms as we didn’t think it was too fair to let them be in the farm for too long. We have gifted the kit onto a friend of ours who home educates and their children will love doing a lesson with this kit.
